First Day
- Please eat and drink as soon as you get home (removing the gauze before you eat or drink, replace after eating). A soft diet is advised for 4-5 days.
- NO SODAS and
NO JUICES for 10 days after surgery (it can disturb the blood clot and increase a chance for a dry socket).

NO SPITTING for 10 days after surgery (it can disturb the blood clot causing a dry socket, bleeding and sinus problems).
- Take
pain medicine 20 minutes after you eat (let your stomach settle).
- Take
antibiotic 2 hours after pain medicine. (DO NOT take pain meds and antibiotics simultaneously as it can upset your stomach.)
- Replace the gauze after eating or drinking.
- Change gauze out every 1-2 hours
as needed. (changing guaze to often will promote bleeding).
1. If the gauze is very red and saturated, replace it.
2. If the gauze is light pink, do not replace it until needed.
- If bleeding continues after 3 hours, place pressure on the area for 10 minutes. If there is still no improvement, wet a tea bag, (no gauze), and bite firmly for at least 2 hrs hours. Repeat if needed (herbal or decaffeinated tea
will not work).
- If bleeding persists, call our office at
704-847-7799. We will return your call as soon as possible.
- Keep yourself elevated during the first through 7days and night with a couple of pillows (laying down flat will increase swelling and bleeding).
- Keep ice on your face for 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off for the first 24hours.
- DO NOT brush or rinse today.
YOU SHOULD NOT BE LEFT ALONE FOR THE FIRST DAY
Second Day
- Start brushing your teeth (brushing to the back molars is very important; not doing so can lead to an infection).
- Start moist heat (wet towel in the microwave for 45 sec or ice packs in wrap can also be heated, read instructions on the blue packs).
